20 Second Advisor: Back to Busy!

The school buses are back on the roads, traffic is tremendous and the schedules are full! Those lazy days of summer are a distant memory as sports, clubs and all hosts of activities start to ramp up. While getting our families to the next scheduled event may take up all of our bandwidth, it is so easy to let the budgeting slide!

Back to school often means back to debt and overspending with clothing purchases, school supplies, club fees, sporting equipment, music lessons and more! To top it all off, it is so much easier to hit that drive-through on the way to the next game then to pack a meal or plan one ahead for later.

If this sounds all too familiar, take a moment to pause! WE are in control of our schedules and spending and WE can make changes now to ensure our family’s current and future peace! If all the extra activities are truly out of your budget, it’s ok to say no. Over the years we have limited the kids at times to just one activity or to even go a season without activities. Choosing simplicity in your scheduling can not only save money but can lower the stress and anxiety of the whole family always on the go. Some of our greatest family memories started with, “Mom, I’m bored!” Creativity craves time and space to come out…and it is completely free!
