I was out of town for over a week on a cruise celebrating my parents’ 60th wedding anniversary. When I go on vacation, I prefer to not stop my mail or newspaper delivery (yes, I’m one of the few keeping the local paper industry alive). Instead of alerting the postal service and the newspaper delivery team that I’m out of town, I feel it’s safer to have a trusted neighbor take in my mail and papers. And while I’m lucky to have a number of great neighbors, my next door neighbor is a standout. He looks out for us and our home, kindly holds on to my mail and papers, and also waters all my outside potted plants. I trust him completely, and he takes such good care that I swear the plants look healthier when I return.
